Despite the fact that the Government decreed a curfew and targeted confinement for 16 provinces in its effort to reduce coronavirus infections, incivilities have not ended.

The third prolonged confinement began on Friday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. and ended on Monday, May 10 at 5:00 a.m.

According to President Lenín Moreno, the National Police – in Quito alone- disbanded between 20 and 30 parties where there were minors , some of them, intoxicated.

This was indicated by the president, who participated in the vaccination day against the coronavirus on Monday, May 10, which was carried out in Guayaquil and in Quito for personnel of the Armed Forces and the National Police.

Moreno added that another concern is that unscrupulous people continue to make false calls and summons for the vaccination process, which is why he asked to stop doing it.

This is not a game and is even worse when you consider the perverse way it tries to affect the management which the Government is carrying out …

Lenín Moreno, President of the Republic

According to Moreno, the government is reaching the ability as to vaccinate up to 100,000 people per day, which will be carried over with the next administration, as well as what [additional measures] they may apply.

He pointed out that on Wednesday the vaccination will end in the Galapagos Islands, as the Minister of Health, Camilo Salinas, has commented.

According to the vaccination plan, for the Galapagos Islands, phase 1 should have ended between March 11 and 12.

Regarding the number of vaccines, Salinas indicated that Pfizer has doubled the number of shipments; before, it delivered between 55,000 and 56,000 doses, but this Wednesday, 100,000 will arrive and on May 19, 150,000.

Meanwhile, related to the COVAX mechanism and the AstraZeneca vaccines, 500,000 doses should have been delivered, but they will arrive on May 20, and with these doses, the vaccination of teachers and other groups such as medical students from hospitals will conclude.

Meanwhile, 500,000 doses of Sinovac will arrive between May 20 and 21, and at the end of the month, 500,000 more doses.

Moreno said there is concern about the continuous delays in drug deliveries, especially from the COVAX mechanism and AstraZeneca.

From Quito, the general commander of the National Police, Tannya Varela, intervened.

He argued that there are 71 vaccination posts nationwide that have allowed them to inoculate more than 30,000 police officers and 3,000 passive duty police officers over 65 and their spouses.

Varela was grateful for the 22,000 vaccines they needed to inoculate all 52,000 members of the entity.

Moreno added that this week the vaccination of the public force will end. This would be with respect to first doses. For teachers, the process will finish in about ten to fifteen days.
