Junta Ciudadana de la Provincia de Galápagos states on a press release that measures taken are due to the economic crisis and lack of response by authorities

Today, the 24th of August has been radicalised in a permanent position the transportation sector, guilds and citizens of Santa Cruz. Whom since early hours of the morning are obstructing the main roads to Baltra that connects the highlands to the airport.
Activist Raúl Menoscal from Junta Ciudadana de Galapagos has been on hunger stroke for 7 days, therefore we give total responsibility to the a Ecuadorian Government @leninmorenog, Norman Wray and Monica Ramos for his health and life of our colleague.
Seeing the lack of attention to the requests from the citizens, we ask for an immediate resignation of local authorities in the province for being inefficient in the actions towards the human needs of the citizens in the islands.
