The Apostolic Vicariate of Galapagos reported that the “La Soledad” chapel has been the victim of vandalism carried out by persons unknown.
This chapel is located in El Progreso of the San Cristobal canton of the Galápagos province. The event occurred last Sunday, January 17. El Progreso is a small town that barely has a population of 487 inhabitants, or approximately 2.31% of the total provincial population.
According to the Vicariate, the police and civil authorities have been informed of this fact and have come to the parish. The Vicariate urges all people of good will to report this and all kinds of vandalism.
“Let us pray that these events do not happen again. Let us pray that there are values of tolerance, respect and responsibility in everyone. And let’s pray that God will provide us with priestly and missionary vocations that can continue to shepherd and accompany the people of God, ”says a statement.
