China Will Place a Fishing Moratorium

China will place a fishing moratorium in the high seas west of the #GalapagosMarine Reserve between September and November 

⚠️Note: The Humboldt Current is the largest upwelling system in the world as well as the most productive marine ecosystem. Upwelling of this current occurs off Peru and the Galapagos year-round, but it is more pronounced during the months of July – November. The Humboldt Current is considered a Class I, highly productive (>300 gC/m2/yr) ecosystem. The current hosts a wide range of organisms including multiple species of plankton, mollusks, sea urchins, crustaceans, fish, and marine mammals. The food web starts with the phytoplankton⚠️
